Hello, fellow running enthusiasts! I’m Steve Boone, a marathon lover who had a wild idea that blossomed into something truly special—the 50 States Marathon Club.

I’ve always loved running. As of today, I’ve finished 827 marathons traversing all 50 states not once, but seven times! Through this club, we’ve transformed running from a solo sport into a community experience, where many have found friendships and even partners. We’ve set clear rules to keep things fair for everyone, making sure that our accomplishments are genuine.

From Kitchen Table to Global Phenomenon

It all started around my kitchen table with a couple of like-minded friends, fueled by a shared passion for running and a desire to finish marathons in every state. We doodled logos and crafted a mission that was close to our hearts—to encourage and celebrate marathon running across all 50 states. Little did we expect that our small group would grow into a global family of marathon fanatics.

Today, new members join us every day by registering online after they finish their 10th state. Our website provides them access to resources and a platform to share their experiences and track their progress. We have specific guidelines that ensure every marathon counts, whether it’s a certified course or an official event. Additionally, we host gatherings and runs, allowing fellow members to connect, celebrate their achievements, and build lasting friendships. It’s a joy to witness the enthusiasm and camaraderie grow within our community as seasoned runners and newcomers alike unite.

Conquering the Marathon Puzzle

Traveling the world to run marathons in all 50 states has sparked my love for exploring new cultures and places, but it comes with its challenges. Planning these races can be tougher than the runs themselves, with flights, hotels, and various race rules to juggle. Balancing training with travel requires careful planning and flexibility, but when I reach every finish line I’m left with amazing memories and a sense of accomplishment.

One of the club’s most rewarding aspects has been witnessing our members’ diversity. We have runners from all walks of life, hailing from 21 different countries. It’s remarkable how running can unite people from such varied backgrounds. Each member brings their own unique story, from seasoned athletes striving for personal bests to those who found healing and strength through running. We’ve become more than just a club; we’re a support system, celebrating each other’s victories and lifting each other through challenges.

A Marathon Reunion to Remember

This year, we’re thrilled to host the third quarter reunion race for the 50 States Marathon Club at the Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction, one of the best marathons in the Midwest. The incredible community enthusiasm in Wisconsin creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Runners from across the country—and even international members—come together to celebrate our passion for marathon running. It’s a fantastic chance to reconnect, make new friends, and share triumphs on and off the course.

Events like these remind us of the bonds we’ve formed and the collective spirit of determination that defines the 50 States Marathon Club. Bringing everyone together is not just a celebration of our achievements but also a reaffirmation of the supportive network we have created.
