APPLETON, Wis. (Sept. 5, 2024) – The Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction is pleased to announce enhancements to the full marathon course for its 33rd annual event, set for Sept. 22, 2024. With more trails and waterfront paths added in Kimberly and Appleton, this year’s course highlights the scenic views of the Fox Cities. The updated course has received certification from USA Track & Field (USATF) to maintain its status as a Boston Qualifier.

New trail additions include:

  • Papermill Run Trail in Kimberly: This trail takes runners beneath Washington Street, following a picturesque stretch of the Fox River to Papermill Run.
  • Telulah Park Trail in Appleton: Winding through wooded areas, this trail descends to the Fox River before rejoining Riverheath Way to reconnect to the Newberry Trail.

Additionally, a section in Darboy has been straightened to enhance the flow for runners.

These adjustments affect only a portion of the full course used by both full and relay marathon participants. The half marathon course remains unchanged.

“We are absolutely thrilled to highlight some of the newest trails in our area,” shared Julie Johnson, race director of the Community First Fox Cities Marathon. “These new trails join more than seven miles of paved trails on the full marathon course showcasing the beauty of our community. Participants and residents can easily check out course maps on our website.”
