Join the Kwik Trip Volunteer Squad: Registration Now Open!

Posted on Jul 20, 2023, by

The Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction is looking for volunteers to be part of the Kwik Trip Volunteer Squad! Registration opens Thursday, July 20, 2023. These positions provide many opportunities to get involved leading up to and throughout race weekend. People can register to volunteer at foxcitiesmarathon.org/volunteer.

More than 2,000 volunteers are needed for the Kwik Trip Volunteer Squad which supports events before, during and after race weekend. Volunteers play a vital role in helping every participant reach their goals. There are volunteer opportunities for every event as well as opportunities for:

  • Goodie Bag Stuffing
  • Letter distribution along the 5K/10K routes
  • Set up and tear down for all events
  • Kids Fun Run
  • 5k/10k
  • Course marshals (Guide and cheer on participants; help spectators and neighbors)
  • And many more!

“I help pace the winners of the various race events on Sunday as part of the motorcycle pace team,” explained Aaron Nigbor, a 27-year volunteer. “I remember being told once by the female winner of the Community First Fox Cities Marathon a few years ago that she was about to give up because she was cramping up really bad near the end of the race, but then she saw my pace motorcycle pull in front of her. She knew I would stay with her the rest of the way, and that gave her the push she needed to finish and win. That story stays with me, and it feels really good to know you make that kind of an impact on people just by volunteering.”

Volunteer positions are as varied as the people who fill them and can take place at different activity levels, alone or in small groups. And while most are outdoors, many volunteer positions also serve indoor tasks. Volunteers can sign up for a single day or multiple days during race weekend – whichever they prefer.

All volunteers receive a T-shirt, a chance to win a prize during the Kwik Trip Virtual Volunteer Party and an experience they won’t forget.

“This entire weekend would not be possible without the thousands of volunteers from the Fox Cities that step up to support this community event,” explained Julie Johnson, race director for the Fox Cities Marathon weekend of events. “This is such a community-driven event, and the volunteers are a large part of what makes this race stand out from other races in the country.”
