The Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction is excited to announce its new medical director, David Hirschi, MD. Dr. Hirschi is Board Certified in Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. He practices sports medicine and non-surgical orthopedic care at ThedaCare

As medical director of the Fox Cities Marathon, Dr. Hirschi will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of medical coverage for race weekend; from pre-race evaluations to on-course treatment and post-race care.

Dr. Hirschi has been with ThedaCare for three years. He completed medical school at St. George’s University School of Medicine, residency at Idaho State University and fellowship at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center/Orem Community Hospital.

Dr. Hirschi’s commitment to medicine was inspired after he helped care for his younger brother with disabilities.

“Taking care of him sparked the beginning of my lifelong passion and love for helping others,” explained Dr. Hirschi. “Now, I am fortunate to combine my dedication of caring for people with my interest in sports.”

Dr. Hirschi said he is encouraged to see community members coming together to participate in events that inspire health and wellness.

“I am looking forward to helping athletes in the Fox Cities prepare for marathon events,” Hirschi said. “And should they need care, our teams are ready to help them recover so they can get back to living their unique, best life.”

ThedaCare is proud to return as the ThedaCare Half Marathon sponsor in 2022. The marathon weekend of events promote health, wellness and community, which directly aligns with ThedaCare’s mission to improve the health and well-being of the communities served.
