McCain School Challenge Winners Announced for the 2021 Community First Fox Cities Marathon

APPLETON, Wis. (Nov. 24, 2021) – More than 150 students at 11 area schools participated in this year’s McCain School Challenge, part of the Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction weekend of events.

The challenge encourages schools to bring students together on race weekend to focus on getting kids active. Students can participate in any of the events, but most participate in the Guardian Kids Fun Run and the Ascension 5K Run/Walk.

“The mission of the Community First Fox Cities Marathon is to inspire health, wellness and community – one step at a time,” said Tara Perre, race director. “It’s so much fun to see the kids reach their goals and see their excitement at the finish line. We love encouraging young and old to participate and this hopefully gets kids hooked on a healthy activity early in life.”

The top schools this year are:

• First Place Winners receive $750 courtesy of McCain Foods
  • Freedom Elementary (Large – 400 or more students)
  • Spring Road Elementary in Neenah (Medium – 201-399 students)
  • Celebration Lutheran School in Appleton (Small – under 200 students)

• Second Place Winners receive $500 courtesy of McCain Foods
  • Little Chute Elementary (Large)
  • Paul Lutheran in Appleton (Small)

• Third Place Winners receive $250 courtesy of McCain Foods
  • Edward School in Appleton (Small)

The McCain School Challenge is free to all elementary, middle and high schools (public and parochial) in the Fox Cities and surrounding school districts. Winners are based on the percentage of students who participate. McCain Foods was welcomed as a new sponsor for the challenge and offered additional goodie bags to every child in the challenge.
