How to create a relay team

Posted on Aug 30, 2018, by

For those who may be interested in participating in the weekend activities for the Community First Fox Cities Marathon presented by Miron Construction, but who don’t want to do it alone, the Orthopedic & Sports Institute of the Fox Valley Relay Marathon is the perfect way to participate with the support of other people on your team.

Who should I ask to join me?

Take a moment to think, who could you ask to join a relay team with you? Here are a few ideas:

  • Work colleagues
  • Extended family
  • Friends from the gym
  • Members of volunteer groups or church

A big perk of running a marathon relay is that the run is broken up into shorter pieces depending on how many people are on the team. Maybe you aren’t quite ready to take on the whole marathon yet, or even the half marathon, but splitting the run between 2-5 people makes it seem much more doable. The Fox Cities Marathon weekend is a fun way to reconnect with people. Make it a long weekend and invite friends to come participate and explore the Fox Cities with you and have some fun!

There are four relay categories:

  • Business/Organization – any combination of male or female employees from a company or non-profit organization
  • Open Division – any and all combination of race participants
  • Female Division – all relay team members must be female
  • Family and Friends Division – have fun competing with your family and friends

The Orthopedic & Sports Institute of the Fox Valley Relay Marathon is on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 7:00 a.m. The start line is in front of the University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley in Menasha and the finish line is at Riverside Park in Neenah.
