The PaceSetters of the Fox Cities are excited to bring you Mirna Valerio to help kick-off training for race season. This event is FREE and open to the public. Join us to hear Mirna’s inspiring story as we start marathon training. Everyone is welcome to attend even if you don’t plan to participate in the Community First Fox Cities Marathon training runs. The event is hosted at Community First Credit Union, 1575 Dresang Way, Neenah.
Brooklyn born Mirna Valerio celebrated her 40th birthday in an unusual fashion- by completing the grueling Javelina Jundred 100km ultra-marathon in the mountains of Arizona. While this might surprise many, challenging convention is Mirna’s specialty.
Through the pressures of life combined with a son with severe asthma, Mirna’s weight peaked over 300 pounds. A visit to the doctor and a diagnosis of morbid obesity prompted Mirna to sign up for a 5km run … and the rest, as they say, is history. Mirna’s obsession with running saved her life, and has inspired countless people around the world to do the same.
Mirna is the bestselling author of “A Beautiful Life in Progress” and was recently named National Geographic’s Adventurer of the Year.
