The Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction is excited to announce that Megan Manahan, ThedaCare Chief Brand Officer has joined its volunteer board of directors.

“We’re excited to welcome Megan to the board,” said Courtney Vosters, chair of the Community First Fox Cities Marathon Board of Directors. “With her background and experience, she’s already bringing new ideas and knowledge to our board discussions.”

As chief brand officer, Manahan oversees a broad range of strategies at ThedaCare including marketing, brand positioning and identity, consumer insights, public relations, community outreach, advertising, and communications.  Manahan has an extensive background in healthcare marketing and communications. She spent 28 years at Mercy Health, the largest healthcare provider in Ohio, in a number of leadership roles.

Megan holds a Master of Business Administration in Organizational Leadership from the University of Findlay and a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising from The Ohio State University.

Manahan also has experience with other races.  She was instrumental in securing the title sponsorship for her former organization of the Mercy Health Glass City Marathon, and worked to promote the race and build relationships in the community.  The Toledo, Ohio based marathon is in its 44th year, has more than 4,000 runners, and is a qualifying event for the Boston Marathon.

“I’m not a runner, however, what I really enjoy is the community feel and the opportunity to meet new people that you get from being involved in an event like this,” said Manahan. “I hope to bring that enthusiasm along with my marketing background and expertise to benefit this outstanding event.”

ThedaCare has been a long-standing sponsor to the marathon since at least 2004 starting as a water station sponsor. Over the years, it sponsored many water stations, pasta dinner speakers, race medical directors, the ThedaCare Medical Pavilion at the finish line, medical and first aid care at the kids events as well as provided many other volunteers. ThedaCare professionals have helped at summer training runs since 2006 and ThedaCare has sponsored the half marathon since 2011. Most recently, in 2019 the ThedaCare Orthopedic Care Recovery Zone was added at the finish line. ThedaCare is sponsoring the 2021 ThedaCare Half Marathon and the ThedaCare Orthopedic Care Recovery Zone. ThedaCare professionals will also continue to provide their expertise at the summer training runs and the Guardian Kids’ Fun Run.

The rescheduled 30th celebration of the Fox Cities Marathon will take place on Sept. 17-19, 2021.
