Running can be an intimidating sport. It involves distance, speed, stamina and lots of training and determination. It can also be an invigorating sport with lots of health benefits and that’s what 11-time ultra-marathon runner, Mirna Valerio wants everyone to know.
Mirna was in northeast Wisconsin in May to talk about her running career and encourage others to join the sport. She travels the world, known as the Mirnavator, and tells her story of being a “fat girl running,” which is also the name of her blog.
She shares her story because she wants everyone to know that no matter what size someone is or whether they’re super athletic or simply enjoy an active lifestyle, anyone can run.
Training runs for the Fox Cities Marathon are taking place now and you can find more information by visiting http://foxcitiesmarathon.org/race-info/training-pacing/.
