Isn’t April supposed to bring warmer weather, green grass and less dirt? Not this year, I guess – or at least not yet. With the weather where it’s at, it might be hard to get into the rhythm of getting back outdoors to run and train. Sometimes just a little extra motivation is needed – a little extra push.
I generally run outside year-round, so for me getting back outside isn’t usually an issue. However, I do find myself falling into a repetitive routine: same distance, same timeframe, same routes, etc. It can get really monotonous instead of being a time for you to get away from the pressures of work, school or whatever you’re facing in life.
Oftentimes, I find that by committing to a race, I become more motivated and in-tune with what my goal is (whether it be time, place or simply finishing) and what I need to do to get there. Hopefully you’ve already signed up for an event at this year’s Community First Fox Cities Marathon Presented by Miron Construction – if not, there’s still time and space. Even if you already have signed up, September seems like a long way off. So, maybe you want to check out some of these other local races coming up in the near future to kick start your training and rejuvenate your motivation – because even though September seems like a long time away, it will be here before you know it.
